About Amelia Golden Senior Investigator
Since becoming a lawyer in 1994, Amelia has offered joint expertise in sound investigation practice and workplace conflict resolution.
After graduating from Queen's Law School, Amelia was honoured for her academic achievement and volunteer work in the field of human rights. In recent years, she has been a senior advisor to local and national human rights agencies, on faculty teaching about workplace investigations for Human Rights certificate programs, an associate in a boutique employment law firm, and a consultant to educational institutions, public service employers, NGOs, and private industry. She has been offering her own effective and personable brand of conciliation and fact-finding for 20 years.Â
Amelia has spent her personal and professional life developing an in-depth knowledge of human rights, principles of natural justice, and employment and administrative law. Amelia is dedicated to recognizing, addressing, and ameliorating the challenges presented when people of different backgrounds, aptitudes, and personal and social locations are brought together such as what is presented in most modern workplaces. Amelia's passion and dedication to promoting equality, fairness, and respect have been recognized through various awards and appointments.
What truly sets Amelia apart is her trauma-informed approach to her work. She demonstrates a deep understanding of the sensitive and often painful experiences of the people within the cases she handles. Her approach is consistently empathetic, ensuring that all parties and witnesses feel safe, respected, and heard throughout the investigative process. She balances the need for thoroughness with an acute awareness of the emotional and psychological impacts on those involved, making her an investigator who is both effective and compassionate.
Amelia's care for people extends beyond the professional realm; she genuinely invests in the well-being of those she interacts with. Whether she is offering support to a party during a difficult interview or providing guidance to colleagues, her compassion and humanity are evident. Her ability to build trust and rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds is a testament to her interpersonal skills and her deep commitment to human rights. She understands the nuances of culture, human behaviour and the causing of harm. She built a relationship of trust with our human rights team and with those she interacted with and I recommend her without reservation.Â
